Understand how to claim compensation after a collision with an uninsured or untraced driver or a foreign registered vehicle.
How to make a claim with MIB
To make a claim against an uninsured or untraced driver, or a foreign registered vehicle, you’ll need to register on our online claim portal. Once your account is set up, you’ll be asked to complete the claim form with as much information as possible.
Who can you claim against?
Here's a quick explanation of the type of people you can submit a claim against.
An uninsured driver is an identified person who does not have a valid insurance policy at the time of the accident.
An untraced driver is someone who leaves the scene of the incident without making their identity known. They may refuse to provide motor insurance details, give fake details, or simply drive away – often known as a hit-and-run.
A foreign registered vehicle is any vehicle that does not have a number plate registered in the UK, the British Crown Dependencies or Gibraltar.
