Facilitating claims processes

When managing claims, having direct access to accurate data is essential. MIB provides a range of data services to help solicitors and claims professionals identify insurers, review claims history and support anti-fraud initiatives. These tools support efficient case handling, reduce delays and help to detect potential fraud at an early stage.

askMID

askMID is a service used by both professionals and members of the public. Its main purpose is to support in finding a person’s insurance details following an accident or collision.

The data comes from Motor Insurance Policy Data (MIPD) held in Navigate, the central record of insured vehicles in the UK, and is used to find the correct insurer to progress a claim against.

Data provided:

  • The name and contact details of the insurance company

  • The policy number

askMID is available as a one-off paid service, or as an annual subscription for organisations such as solicitors and claims handling companies. If you need support whilst using this service, you can contact us via email

Claims Underwriting Exchange (CUE)

CUE is a record of all reported motor, personal injury and household claims. This data supports underwriting accuracy and combats insurance fraud through comprehensive incident records.

This data contains:

  • Names and addresses of claimants

  • Claim status

Organisations must share claims data to access CUE, ensuring fairness and market completeness. This data is used by insurers, brokers, solicitors and delegated authorities.

To request access to CUE, please contact our enquiries team. Existing users can seek support by emailing us

AskCUE Personal Injury

AskCUE PI is the on-demand service held in the MIB Services platform that solicitors, claims handling companies and insurers are legally mandated to check before acting on behalf of a client who is claiming for personal injury. This data is held to help identify attempts at fraudulent activity.

AskCUE PI pulls results from the Claims Underwriting Exchange (CUE) to provide visibility of an individual’s claim history without needing access to the full record.

This data contains:

Frequently asked questions about MIB data services

As part of a solicitor or claims handler’s legal obligations, an askCUE PI check must be carried out before acting on behalf of a client making a personal injury claim.

Subscriptions are required for both askMID and askCUE PI for regular use at organisation level. askMID can also be used as a one-off service.

Navigate VS&TD (if applicable) is free to use for approved users.

By providing access to verified claims and insurance data, it’s easier to spot issues and inconsistencies such as mismatched policy information, duplicate claims or unusual patterns in a person’s claims history.

Over time, access to consistent, shared data helps to build a clearer picture of behaviour across the market, supporting more accurate assessments and reducing the risk of fraudulent activity progressing.
