Our police helpline is here to help you quickly establish if a vehicle is adequately insured. We speak to insurers to verify the information a driver has provided, whether it’s at the roadside or before releasing a vehicle that has been seized.

In line with insurers' opening hours, our helpline is available Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm, on 0800 999 4165.

If we are closed or your enquiry does not relate to an ongoing roadside stop, you can submit an online enquiry. We aim to respond as quickly as possible, in most cases within three working days.

Scammers pose as legitimate insurance brokers to sell fake policies, often targetting new, inexperienced drivers who can't afford a traditional policy, or those looking to hide other criminal activity.

Often seen as an innocent loophole to help reduce costs, fronting involves naming a more experienced driver such as a parent as the main policyholder. In reality, it is often a new or young drvier who is the main driver of the vehicle.
