MIB (The Motor Insurers' Bureau) has reinforced its commitment to collaboration and industry engagement through a successful visit to Gibraltar, led by CEO Angus Eaton.

Bringing together insurers, government representatives and industry stakeholders, the visit in early October provided an opportunity to share MIB's strategic direction, explore the challenges shaping the future of motor insurance and strengthen relationships across the Gibraltar market.

The event welcomed delegates from a wide range of organisations for a programme focused on innovation, transformation and partnership. Opening proceedings, representatives from HM Government of Gibraltar highlighted the important role collaboration plays in supporting a thriving insurance sector.

Sharing MIB's vision

A key highlight of the event was a presentation from Angus Eaton, who outlined MIB's progress and ambitions through its Accelerating to Zero strategy.

Speaking to delegates, Angus shared how MIB is evolving to meet the changing needs of members and customers, highlighting the importance of collaboration, data-driven decision making and delivering services that create value across the insurance industry.

The session also explored the opportunities presented by new technologies, changing customer expectations and the need for organisations to remain agile in an increasingly complex environment.

Exploring emerging challenges and opportunities

Delegates heard updates on initiatives designed to support industry innovation, including developments in real-time data capabilities and digital services.

An executive leadership panel and Q&A session sparked discussion on several topics affecting the insurance market, including:

  • The future direction of the motor insurance industry

  • Advances in data and digital transformation

  • Artificial intelligence and its potential impact on insurance services

  • Automated vehicles and emerging mobility trends

  • Claims inflation and the wider economic landscape

  • The importance of industry-wide collaboration.

The discussions reflected a shared interest in finding practical solutions to common challenges and identifying opportunities to deliver better outcomes for customers and members alike.

Building stronger relationships

Beyond the formal programme, the visit provided valuable opportunities for networking and relationship-building with insurers and stakeholders operating in Gibraltar.

These conversations enabled MIB colleagues to hear first-hand about the priorities and concerns facing organisations across the market, while also sharing insights on MIB's strategic ambitions and ongoing transformation.
