Navigate

Navigate is the new home of data from the Motor Insurance Database (MID) from April 30, 2024. Navigate is the central record of all insured vehicles in the UK. It is managed by the MIB and is used by the Police and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to enforce motor insurance laws.

MIB supports the insurance industry by developing and managing databases on its behalf, deploying experience and providing access to varied skills by working with other organisations.

The MoJ portal service also assists claimant organisations to direct claims to the correct insurer, resulting in a fair and prompt service for the customer.

As a data controller, the MIB takes its responsibility to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data entrusted to it extremely seriously. It complies with the spirit as well as the letter of relevant UK and European data protection legislation.
