April Navigate update - read it here

Our programme has always been about building a modern, secure foundation for our vital data services. More than 75,000 users are now using Navigate.

The new-look Check Your Vehicle launched earlier this month and our work to move MIAFTR across in November is progressing well.

Legal acceptance

Most organisations who use MIAFTR have now signed their new legal agreement to use Navigate.

Thanks to everyone who has completed the first crucial step in the readiness journey. Disappointingly, there are a small number who still haven’t signed. Without an agreement in place, those organisations won’t be able to start testing Navigate from June, or use the live system from November 2025.

As a reminder, MIAFTR has become the default mechanism for insurers and self-insured entities to fulfil their regulatory obligation to notify the DVLA of total loss events. Organisations who haven’t signed the new agreement should consider the impact on their business operations.

If you’re one of the few still yet to sign, please do reach out to us as a priority. We're here to help at engagement@mib.org.uk

Portal testing

We’re getting ready for portal testing to begin in June.

As we’ve shared, most customers submit MIAFTR data, and/or enquire on it using the portal. So, making sure those customers can interact with the Navigate portal in the same way is a key priority. During testing, they’ll check that they can log in, submit, enquire and view data as they’d expect to.

Portal testing will be on a staggered basis and each customer has now been offered a week-long testing window within their allocated testing month between June and September. Briefing workshops will be offered to each customer before their test window starts.

Every customer has a dedicated member of our engagement team supporting them to provide a single point of contact and guide them directly through the process.

Navigate enhancement: reporting progress

We’ve finished development of the FR50 report, and it’s now being tested by customers who volunteered to review it ahead of a wider rollout.

We’re sorry this has taken longer to resolve than we originally anticipated.

Thanks to all our current Navigate customers who responded to our recent request for feedback on which remaining outstanding reports are still required.

We're reviewing the responses and will plan the relevant reports into the backlog for development.
