Our police helpline is here to help you quickly establish if a vehicle is adequately insured. We speak to insurers to verify the information a driver has provided, whether it’s at the roadside or before releasing a vehicle that has been seized.
Out of hours
In line with insurers' opening hours, we're here Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm. The number to call is 0800 999 4165. Outside these times, we're not able to speak to insurers to verify a vehicle's insurance status.
If we are closed or your enquiry relates to a roadside stop that is not ongoing, you can submit an enquiry using our online form. We aim to respond as quickly as possible, in most cases within three working days.
