Operation Drive Insured took over 3,700 uninsured vehicles off the road
15 February 2024
In case you missed it, we’re excited to share the results from ODI 2023.
In just one week (20 - 26 November 2023), police roadside operations tackling uninsured driving took over 3,700 vehicles off the roads.
Once again, you took to the road to do what we work together to achieve every week: taking uninsured vehicles off our roads to make them safer for all.
The latest campaign saw a huge step up in roadside results, including:
- 3,736 seizures – a 23% increase on 2022
- 142 stolen vehicles recovered
- 134 arrests made
Police operations also successfully identified uninsured vehicles linked to secondary offences from fraudulent driving licences to money laundering.
We also focused on driving positive behaviour change
We know that many uninsured drivers may have made an honest mistake, with various potential insurance ‘pitfalls’ causing unsuspecting motorists to accidently find themselves uninsured. Some may also be considering driving uninsured, especially in the face of the pressures caused by the cost-of-living crisis.
To support changes in behaviour, we ramped up our awareness activities with paid campaigns across Meta and Spotify, revamped our partnership pack that supports police forces in amplifying the ODI message across the week, and secured coverage in several major news outlets, including Sky News.
Together, we took the Drive Insured message further
- Over 49,000 visits to the campaign landing pages, which highlighted the serious consequences of uninsured driving and invited people to check they are insured via askMID
- 1.6m social impressions – a 56% increase on ODI 2022
- 51 unique police social media accounts posted about #OpDriveInsured - a 232% increase on ODI 2022
- 273 mentions across press outlets
Thank you, once again, for your support during Operation Drive Insured week 2023. Every vehicle seized by you makes the roads safer for us all.
