Operation Drive Insured is back for 2023
16 November 2023
Working together to reduce uninsured driving
Anyone involved in policing knows only too well the devastating cost uninsured drivers have on victims and their families. How many times police officers have had to knock on the door to tell a family that someone close to them has been killed or injured by a driver who was not insured.
"Making roads safer has been at the heart of what the MIB has been about for decades. Since 2005, we've helped the police take more than 2.5 million uninsured drivers off the roads."
James Dalton, Chief Services Officer, MIB
Making our roads safer
The Operation Drive Insured week of action and NPCC (National Police Chiefs' Commission) campaign sees forces take part in increased enforcement activity to seize uninsured vehicles.
MIB will also be supporting you with a coordinated public awareness campaign. Whether it's members of the public who have made a mistake or the most serious repeat offenders, we're here to help you send a clear message that uninsured driving is never worth the risk.
Other ways we'll be supporting you:
- MIB enforcement liaison officers will attend roadside operations, giving you targeted support and a direct link to our police helpline and Motor Insurance Database
- Enhanced intelligence through Tutelage Plus, helping you accurately predict the movements of uninsured vehicles
- #DriveInsured stickers to make roadside seizures for no insurance visible to the public
- Support with social media content to help promote our efforts and success together.
During the week of action, we're also extending the opening hours for our police helpline to 8am to 6 am, Monday to Saturday at the usual number – 0800 999 4165.
