Data controller

MIB is the data controller for the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE) database. This is an important resource in the fight against insurance fraud. MIB governs the standards of data quality which members are expected to achieve and works to enforce data quality and control.

Providing MIB services

MIB provides important risk and compliance support to CUE, helping to ensure that data controls are robust and compliant with all legal requirements.

Through its service delivery and project management services, MIB also helps to ensure the smooth operation of important CUE services as well as day to day management of any incidents and service improvements.  Alongside these, a team of account managers provides CUE subscribers with support in the event of queries or issues.

Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE)

CUE is a central database of motor, home and personal injury/industrial illness incidents reported to insurance companies which may or may not have given rise to a claim. Information held on CUE is a powerful weapon in the fight against fraud.

CUE was established in 1994 to help fight insurance fraud.  By enabling insurers to access details of incidents, it makes it harder to successfully commit claims fraud or misrepresent claims history.  Ultimately, this helps to keep down the cost of insurance for honest policyholders.

If you wish to find out what information is held about you on the CUE database, please complete a Subject Access Request form. Alternatively if you wish to contact us regarding a complaint, or any other query relating to these databases, please contact MIB on on 0345 1652803 (freephone) or at dataprotection@mib.org.uk. A copy of the Privacy Policy can be found here.
