What are the Uninsured Drivers' Agreements?
These are agreements between the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and MIB which set out the circumstances under which claims will be paid. Whilst the agreements require that judgment be obtained in a Civil Court against the uninsured motorist, MIB will, wherever possible, pay compensation by agreement as opposed to demanding that a judgment be obtained first. The text of the agreements can be ordered from the Stationery Office Website or can be downloaded from this site.
