How to access the MID and the information on it
The database can be enquired upon by various public bodies such as the Police, the DVLA and DVA. Also by Insurers and the MIB itself.
Any driver may check that their vehicle is registered on the MID (and therefore they are less likely to be inconvenienced by police by being suspected of driving uninsured) by using www.askmid.com. See our askMID page for more details.
Individuals who wish to know what data is held about them on the database can enquire via the UK Information Centre to obtain this information, see our UKIC Enquiries page for more details.
Victims of accidents involving a UK vehicle can enquire via the UK Information Centre to obtain the insurance details of the other vehicle, see our UKIC Enquiries page for more details.
