Compare & Amend - Two file types are available for updating vehicle records.  This guide describes the Compare & Amend type, which allows the daily submission of fleet 'snapshots' which create the requisite changes to records as vehicles join and leave a fleet.

Note : Users of “Compare & Amend" file transfer, which allows a snapshot of vehicle records to be sent, and the relevant changes to be derived by MID, will find that rectifying errors correctly is a complex process.  If not done correctly this may mean that vehicles appear on MID with the wrong details or don’t appear at all.  In either case a policyholder is not meeting his obligations under the Motor Vehicles (Compulsory Insurance) (Information Centre and Compensation Body) Regulations 2003 and may be guilty of an offence, albeit unintentionally.   Information on the way Compare & Amend works, and the restrictions and drawbacks, can be found in the guide.
