How long does information stay on the MID?
The data protection act stipulates that we should keep the data no longer than necessary. The 4th EU Motor Insurance Directive (now incorporated into the Codified Directive 2009/103/EC) stipulated that policies need to be identified for up to 7 years after expiry, to aid tracing of insurance following an accident, at which point we securely dispose of all old data on a rolling, annual basis.
