For the majority of people - no. If you have a private insurance policy covering your own car or those cars in your family then you cannot update the MID yourself.  This will be done on your behalf by your insurance provider.

Companies that have commercial, fleet or motor trade policies can update the MID directly, but only with vehicle information, and even then such access is strictly limited and must be officially authorised by the insurance company.
