In the case of bodily injury, there is no financial limit to the level of compensation.
In the case of property damage, MIB does not pay the first £300 of any claim under its current Agreements.
However, new agreements are being negotiated to take account of the 5th Directive on motor insurance as far as it relates to EU members. Once agreed, no excess will be applied in the majority of cases.
The Bureau will not be liable beyond the limit (set by the Road Traffic Act 1988) of £1,000,000.
