UK Information Centre
The role of the UK Information Centre is to deal with MID enquiries and using the Motor Insurance Database, assist in locating insurance details for UK registered vehicles involved in accidents in other member states.
To comply with the 4th Motor Insurance Directive (now incorporated into the Codified Directive 2009/103/EC), enquiries can also be made to locate UK claims representatives of EEA foreign insurers if a UK resident has an accident abroad, and to advise other Information Centres of UK insurers and their foreign claims representatives for UK accidents.
Enquiries can be forwarded by e-mail to information@mib.org.uk (for UK enquirers) or to ukinfocentre@mib.org.uk, (for enquiries from Europe).
The UKIC are not able to provide insurance details to enquirers over the telephone but can assist UK enquirers by post, on receipt of a signed form and a payment of £10.00 (including VAT) to cover the administration charge.
Details on how to request information can be viewed from the enquiries area of our website.
