John Thomson - Head of IS

John started in the MIB in 2001 as a management consultant, to deal with specific challenges in the IS area, before accepting a permanent position as Head of IS. 

 

In 2004 John was Programme Director of a Business Process Re-engineering Programme that underpinned major improvements in the Claims Handling performance at MIB. John introduced and oversees high performance Project and Portfolio Management practices at MIB and processes for in-house system development and joint developments with strategic partners. He has created and oversees an MI department whose performance is critical to the target driven approach for improvements in Customer Service quality and cost reduction, and supporting the effective use of the MID. John has responsibility for managing the MID suppliers, IT Service Delivery and Information Security.

He is also a member of the Executive Management Team.

 

John had previously worked for General Accident performing many project and line management roles ultimately becoming Systems Development Manager. He then worked with IBM in IS planning and project management. Whilst at IBM he successfully completed an MBA at the Open University.
