Ashton West joined the MIB as Chief Executive in 2003. He has
been in the insurance industry for over 30 years actively involved in
claims and general management. His former employment roles
include Claims Director of Iron Trades Insurance and Rubicon
Limited, Claims Consultant for Bavarian Re UK and Chairman of
ReIntra Limited.
In addition to claims and general management, Ashton has
participated in a number of industry initiatives. He was involved with
the negotiation and operation of agreements to assist in the
resolution of large scale industrial disease claims issues. He
participated in the Working Party for the development of the Personal
Injury Pre-Action Protocols and the development of the Code of Best
Practice on Rehabilitation. He also received the inaugural
Outstanding Individual Achievement award at the Rehabilitation First
Awards. Ashton was a founder member of the Civil Justice Council,
is a current member of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) Motor
Committee and ABI Personal Injury System Reform High Level
Group, past chairman of the Motor and Liability Claims Panel of the
ABI and past member of the ABI Liability Insurance Committee. He
is a law graduate, Chartered Insurer and member of the Institute of
Management.
